🤲🏼 The Practice of Giving and Receiving

A homeless man divides what little food he has with a starving dog. A King gives an exquisite banquet to his noble troops. Who is more generous?

We all have different capacities and resources. When we give and receive according to our true means, something deeper awakens. We cultivate a quiet harmony that honors personal circumstances while stepping into a field of trust in how everything comes into balance.

Some things are easy to give while other things we encounter more holding patterns. For me, it is easy for me to give my time and energy because this is what I have a lot of right now! However it takes more of a push for me to share material things and I notice myself feeling anxious about being without.

Building a business the right way is extremely important to me. It's been a slow process to even have the courage to ask for money for my offerings and it continues to be a work in progress. As someone who knows first hand the limitations of finances, I never want money to be a barrier to someone seeking guidance.  While I offer standard prices to reflect the time, care, and energy I put into my work, I also provide 15%, 25%, and 50% coupons for those who choose to be supported.

To me, service and pricing is not a fixed transaction—it’s a relational offering. An exchange rooted in mutual respect, trust and genuine care for one another. Just as we want something for ourselves, we should aspire for all beings to receive what they need to feel safe and at ease in the world. I think of all the homemakers who take care of the house hold without a pay check. We may assume that this is their duty which is all well in good, and yet this arrangement only works when partnered with someone who is providing for them. Such is the arrangement of Lay people and monastics.

In a way, I feel I am stuck in the psychology of this arrangement. I assume I am to give dutifully and yet I am a single woman who is definitely not earning enough to look after myself! Learning to be the bread winner is tough and i'm not sure if ill ever get there.... So until I figure this out, your help is indeed greatly appreciated!

May all beings be free from financial stressors and experience the ease of security and comfort in their life.

✨ Help me Raise $5000!

I live in a simple small town in Ontario, Canada (not my home country), where I have found a temporary refuge. I am slowly building my business while dedicating a large part of my time to studying the Dhamma and working on developing my speech so that I can deliver valuable teachings to those who seek awakening.

I recently got TWO teeth removed due to an infection. I maybe could have avoided this but if left unresolved, my angels alerted me to the potential of this situation developing into my breast. Better to lose a tooth then a breast i thought! In any case, I would love to have ONE of these tooth back so I can eat on both sides of my mouth. Ive been told this costs about $5000.

🪷 Instructions to Receive the Merits of Generosity.

Should you choose to make a contribution, I would like to invite you to do a practice that can allow you to receive the merits of your offering more quickly!

From the mouth of the Buddha, we are encouraged to meditate on our own virtues—to recognize it, nurture it, and rejoice in it. When we reflect on our generous acts with awareness, we plant wholesome seeds in the mind. These seeds naturally bear fruit: a heart more open, a life more aligned, and a mind drawn to joyful circumstance.

It is recommended that you meditation on your acts of kindness at the end of each day before bed. It could be the smallest gesture from opening a door for someone to something more significant in nature. What is important to recognize is that the value is not in the act itself but in the attitude that is behind it. Take your time to imagine the person you helped experiencing more easefulness in their life as the result of your gesture. Diligently do this practice everyday letting mindfulness of virtue become a quiet ritual that bolsters your recognition of innate goodness. At the end of each day, let your reflections be filled with loving-kindness and be prepared to witness how your life becomes more lovely :)
